President Steve got us started, Kirby sang and pledged and Scott McInvalle offered the invocation.  Please keep the following infirmed K members and their families in your prayers. Charles T. Haigh, Tim Dunn (at the meeting), Barbara Porters Daughter in law Nicole, Robbie Talton’s wife Deanna, Kirby White (also at the meeting), Sue Warren, Norwood Bryan, Lisa Childers, Rick Daniel, Richard Everett (still at Duke weak and trying to recover), Tom Keith, and Grant Gabriel.
 
President Steve took a few moments to reflect on 911 and the strength of human connection that Kiwanis is built on. We remember the past today but lets also celebrate the present. Well said.

Announcements:
  • Jay Gothard gave a review of the Joint Bored meeting between the Old and New Board of Directors. John Harbison has agreed to be the New Secretary.  Thank you, Bob, for your years of service. The Club meeting and Reception Committee is the Committee of the Month. Jim Schafer was voted a Life Member.
  • The Golf Tournament-at $33K and expecting to grow. Please consider supporting.
  • Reading is Fun- Got an increase in funding to purchase books.
  • Family Fun Day scheduled for June. More to come.
 
Program: Jim Ammons introduced Michael Macias and his mother, Angela. Michael has had vision difficulties from birth and lost his eyes as a teenager. He developed a keen sense of Music enabling him to become a concert pianist and obtain a master’s in music.  He displayed his amazing talent by playing several piano pieces with a patriotic theme and finishing with an intricate Scott Joplin Ragtime tune. His drive and confidence are true inspiration.
George Turner won the 50/50 again
